As a child, Cliona's school teacher surprised everyone in class, including Cliona, by revealing that she was adopted. Having waited until she was eighteen to track down her birth-mother, perhaps she thought the biggest defining chapter of her life was resolved. Not so. Cliona’s third child Alex, is the only child in the world with a degenerative brain condition, which has defined, quite literally, every second of her and her family’s lives.
